personal opinion here, but if you have a taller kid jumping STRAIGHT up in the air to retrieve a rebound, I believe it is not over the back...as long as his hands or arms do not come over the opposing player's head, shoulders, etc. In other words, the taller kid would have to go straight up with his entire body which would be kinda hard not to call unless you have a 4 foot tall kid boxing out a 7 foot tall kid, whereas I could see the difference.

If they don't make bodily contact how is it a foul? Also if the kid tries to further his position backward as the kid from behind goes up for the rebound, you would have the foul the kid "boxing out".

But it is regularly called. Time and time again I've seen a taller player called for OTB just because they elevated above the other player and grabbed the rebound.

Hell, that's how Gonzaga won their first round game last week.

    Re: UK vs. UCONN

Well I watched the game and there was bad calls that went both ways and I'm not going to put it on the refs that they lost the game for UK. Cause if UK could have hit some 3's in the first half we could have probably pull the upset off.

But some people thought it would be a blow out, that UCONN would just run away with it. In which I was proud of the Cats by coming back and making it a ballgame only to come up 4 points short.

I don't think it was a bad season for UK, heck they wasn't supposed to make the tourney, and did.

that is what I was saying...If there is NO body contact then it shouldn't be a foul. Maybe I wrote that out wrong. That is what I was tryin to say when I put the example of the taller player jumping. Sorry for the confusion.

Ok, just making sure. Too many fans want "over the back" called because their player got out hustled, or out "athleticized"(I know its not a word).

that is too funny. I wonder what kind of words us "hicks" could come up with just by talking in a conversation?
